NDE Evidence and the Next Steps in Mind-Brain Research

NDEs provide strong evidence that the nonmaterial mind is a separate entity that interfaces with the brain in ordinary consciousness—a view that requires a radical shift in neuroscience. Earlier scientific revolutions like the heliocentric view of the heavens took more than a century to be accepted whereas more recent revolutions like the structure of the atom took less than 20 years. The difference was the ability to provide convincing evidence and a model of the new paradigm to other scientists. We present the NDE evidence for the separate mind entity and a model of, and evidence for, mind-brain interaction. There is good NDE evidence that the nonmaterial mind interacts with physical matter including neural mechanisms and there is good neurological evidence from neural structures and anesthesiology that suggests an interface for the mind to work with the brain. What is needed now is a research program to validate this model of mind-brain interaction.

The Emerging Human: Using Your Thoughts & Heart To Co-Create With the Universe & Birth a More Magnificent You – and World

We are at a pivotal moment in human history: A new species of Human is emerging. We have the opportunity to evolve into this new consciousness – or not. We all feel and witness the struggle between the age-old focus on ego, greed, power struggles and competition – vs – a new focus on the heart, cooperation, and Oneness with all beings we share this world with. During my NDE, I was taught that the 2 greatest challenges humans are here to explore and develop are: 1) Learning to consciously use, and create with, the power of our thoughts, rather than destroy with unconscious, repetitive, negative thinking; and 2) the importance of how we show up in our relationships – with people, the environment, and ourSelves. I will recount my NDE, and how working with these 2 teachings dramatically enhanced my life. I will share specific ways you can use the power of your thoughts and heart to co-create with the Universe, connect with the Oneness – and birth the new species within yourself.

The Universal Truth of Oneness and know we are all Sovereign Divine Beings of Light; connected to Source and each other. Science is now teaching us that ALL life, everything is energy, and that energy is interconnected and interdependent. In essence, everyone is ONE. Knowing the truth of Oneness will put an end to war, crime, poverty, racism, religious and cultural division, and the destruction of the earth. We are in the midst of a Global Consciousness Shift and we are living in the dawn of a new age for mankind’s Awakening.

Oneness and Who We Are

In the diversity of Near-Death Experiences, perhaps the most universal experience and therefore the lost luminous message is the reality that we are all ONE.

We are not only connected to each other, but connected to Divine Source. It is time to remember our origins and who we truly are, so that humanity can step into higher consciousness and a more compassionate way of being.

In 1997 Olsen experienced a horrific auto accident, which took the lives of half his family and nearly killed him. At the time of his accident, Olsen had incredible Out-of-Body and Near-Death Experiences, bringing him insights not common in today’s world. Jeff has integrated these experiences into everyday life, inspiring others to embrace the light within themselves and to choose joy and true connection in all they do.

Choosing joy and connection is a profound step toward oneness; oneness with the universe, oneness in relationships, and perhaps most importantly, oneness with one’s self.

In this presentation, you will discover how during Ingrid’s NDE, while navigating in the spirit realm, she saw her mom who was about 10 min away from the place where Ingrid was drowning, and thanks to the strong connection between them, her mom was able to sense Ingrid’s presence. And then, by following her intuition and inner guidance she was able to find Ingrid’s lifeless body sunk at the bottom of a tank filled with frigid water, and to save her. Ingrid came back from the other realm to confirm that connection and communication between realms is absolutely real. When she grew up, Ingrid had a second NDE and not long after the Beings of Light revealed to her that one of the purposes of her NDEs was to bring back the message of the importance of connection which is essential to reuniting with our neighbors in Oneness. True Connection can only be achieved through Unconditional Love. Nowadays Ingrid is still communicating and learning from the Beings of Light and the spirit realm.

When Rose’s husband committed suicide, she fell into a pit so deep and dark that medical professionals expressed doubts about her recovery. Two years later, Rose was diagnosed with cancer, and during a related surgical biopsy, she bled to death. In heaven, her predominant emotion was gratitude that this life experience had ended, but the angelic beings she encountered encouraged Rose to return to earth. She was told that if she agreed to go back, she’d be restored to perfect health, physically, emotionally and mentally. After Rose’s restoration to life, she sold off her earthly possessions and moved 1,000 miles due west to start a new life in the Midwest. When asked how her life has changed after this NDE, she often replies, “Every single thing about my life has been transformed. Every single thing.” Her story has been heard by 10+ million people.

Near-Death Experience Reports – The “Red Pill” for Discovering Reality

The Matrix movie trilogy, and the Matrix Resurrection film of 2022, made famous the notion there is a deeper truth than the video game nature of our day-to-day existence. In those films, this deeper reality was visited by swallowing a red pill – much like Plato’s metaphor, some four centuries before Christ, of the enlightened who break their chains, and exit the cave of shadows to enter the sunlight of truth. Our conviction at NDE Radio – that NDEs provide that “red pill” visit to the deeper reality – is that we are helping demonstrate to listeners around the world the oneness we share with each another, and with the Earth itself. Is there a lasting impact when listen to what NDErs are telling us? In the eight years since launching the NDE Radio podcasts, this is a report on what progress we’re making based on a sampling of our listeners’ theological questions and responses.

Our life is a story that is told about ourselves, by ourselves, that we’ve come to believe. Often the harshest reality that many people come to in their lives is that the life they’re living is not what they envisioned for themselves. The presenter is a bestselling author and highly decorated retired officer of Canada’s national police force, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He’s investigated over 700 human deaths in his career. He’s witnessed death come both violently and passively. Facing a life-threatening auto-immune disease and listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit, he had a near death experience (NDE). After experiencing his NDE, miraculously, literally the next day his medical condition started to dramatically improve. He went from having been given only three days to live, to enjoy a full and complete recovery. The presenter has learned no matter how old you are or where you are in your life, a true change in your life is only a thought away.

A survey of 834 near-death experiencers (NDErs) was conducted. The survey included questions asking about awareness during their NDEs regarding: 1. Any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness exists? 2. Any specific information / awareness regarding love? 3. Any specific information / awareness that God or a supreme being exists? A remarkably high percentage of NDErs answered ‘Yes’ to these questions- 47.1%, 57.1%, and 48.0% to questions one through three, respectively. All three of these questions allowed a narrative response. These narrative responses showed remarkably consistent insights: 1. NDErs often found that a mystical universal connection/unity/oneness really exists. 2. NDErs often describe the unearthly love in their NDEs as a part of everything, as if love connects everyone and everything. 3. God is often described as beyond earthly words and is a reality.

It is an informative but scientific approach, carried out by a forensic neuropsychiatrist, to the near death experiences (NDE). With numerous testimonials from people from many parts of the world who have had out-of-body experiences during their NDE. We postulate that these out-of-body experiences could constitute an objective way of affirming the existence of a displacement of consciousness outside of its physical container, which is the brain. Furthermore, many of these experiences are confirmed by people in the immediate environment, whether they are medical professionals, family members and friends. Techniques to approach an NDE followed by an OBE are discussed from a scientific point of view but in a very comprehensible manner.

After our Oneness experience, we are radiating Luminous Love so strong we could never imagine it gone from our perception. Until it is. Sometimes it gradually fades over time, like a dream. At other times, the fabric of our being tears unexpectedly, now marred with shadow and stained by pain. These recent years of cultural upheaval have shredded most of us to some degree. We have found our hearts broken, Luminous Love seeming beyond the horizon of our grasp. But, there are specific steps we can take to get it back. Valerie will validate current common triggers for losing unconditional love for self and others, and the grief that accompanies that loss; encourage us that Luminous Love is a quantum state that we CAN re-access; and remind us that, like energy-matter, Love is a multiple-sided aspect of the Oneness that we can lose only to our linear perception

Multiple times, in multiple ways, over my lifetime I’ve experienced Oneness. I said nothing for decades. Instead, I put The Ineffable into action, or rather allowed It to act through me, when facing division, judgmental attitudes, and self-righteousness interests. It’s less that I have diminished feelings of conflict, alienation, fear of punishment, and death. It’s more that I know what I am, who I am, where I am from, and to where I am going. The Living Remembrance compels me to care for others even by putting myself at risk for strangers. Touching Timelessness leaves me living in a constant state of déjà vu. Expressions of compassion and love naturally and unavoidably arise from a transcendental Union experience. I will talk about all of this and, inshallah, create a space combining our collective Luminous selves to multiple, and experience, the Radiance among us and feel the Essence of Love together.

Mystical Experiencers report that the ethereal Oneness experienced throughout a Transcendent state is a sublime peak experience, which radically alters one’s Life trajectory. Medicinal storytelling, including yet not limited to Near-Death Experiences, document how these experiences radically alter collective consciousness and inspire others to more aligned ways of Being. Yet, authentic embodiment of our Spiritual knowing is a notable challenge for seekers of all paths, as we are recurrently confronted with the dichotomy between our awakening and the realities of our complex and fragile humanity. This lecture, offered humbly by a perfectly imperfect experiencer and healer, explores the cultural phenomenon of Spiritual bypassing to highlight the need for integration of our human complexities and grounded embodiment of our Light, so we may shine as a relatable source of authentic connection to those we are blessed to inspire and serve.

I died three times in three months in 1977, and each time had a near-death experience and each was different. In my third, a voice larger than big told me and I quote: “Test revelation. You are to do the research. One book for each death.” Book one was not named (I suspect it was my first one – COMING BACK TO LIFE). Book two: FUTURE MEMORY. Book three: A MANUAL FOR DEVELOPING HUMANS. Being a cop’s kid raised in a police station, I used police investigative techniques as my protocol. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, whom I met at O’Hare Airport near Chicago, listened to my story, and said I was a near-death survivor. She never mentioned Raymond Moody, nor had I heard of him or his famous book. In my first episode of “living the future before it occurred,” I saw myself quitting my bank job and moving to Falls, Church, Virginia. This I did, and began my work interviewing others like myself, a work that has continued unabated for 44 years.

Based on quotes of more than 100 NDErs one can draw two important conclusions. The first is that Love is the most important thing there is, and that Unconditional Love awaits us when our body dies and our consciousness is released. The second message is that we are at least very thoroughly interconnected with each other, with other animals, with nature, and in fact with all that exists. However, if we take a closer look at what many NDErs are saying, the conclusion could be more extreme than just this interconnectedness. It should probably be that we are all ONE, seen from another dimension. Love is what seems to bind us. If enough people become aware of this, humanity could really take a beneficial next step forward

Paula Lenz shares her sudden, unexpected out-of-body moments into Infinity with her deceased brother’s spirit three days after his funeral. This event took place while she was driving her deceased brother’s truck. Her experience of Being the Oneness of Spirit / All Love resulted in profound changes in her consciousness, her understanding of life and death, and ultimately in her own life purpose. Dr. Janice Holden’s research findings about her experience include: that her experience included aspects of an After-Death Communication (ADC), a Shared Death Experience (SDE), and a Near Death Experience (NDE). Paula took Bruce Greyson’s NDE test, indicating a deep NDE although she was not near death. Aftereffects since her experience include outreach from others’ deceased loved ones, visions, heightened intuition, and guidance she receives for her own life and others. Paula provides her unique visualization for connecting with the Oneness, Meld Into Spirit Technique (MIST).

Victims of fires, automobile accidents, shootings, stabbings, drownings—and suicides—come to him in his dreams seeking help to resolve their Interrupted Death Experiences. Father Nathan believes that providing such help is something the Holy Spirit has given him and his prayer partners to do. In this presentation he will describe the process of first being contacted during sleep, recording the details in the dream in a journal, meeting with a prayer partner, moving into protective prayer and lending his voice so that the person seeking assistance can describe their experience. The person is then coached into choosing a trusted companion to help them make a significant afterlife passage.

This presentation and group discussion of Oneness draws from and is informed by a doctoral research study (Knight, 2013) exploring after-death contact (ADC) phenomena and the researcher’s lived experience of transpersonal phenomena. It discusses how experiences of Oneness not only lead to a change of internal state for the experiencer, such that they know the inward nature of all things, but enable them to experience the spiritual foundations of reality. Such experiences transcend positivist and strictly empirical views of the universe and the individual by recognizing and acknowledging a spiritual dimension of existence and, alternate notions and understandings of a reality.

The Mystical Experience (ME) encompasses, as a defining dimension, ‘Oneness’. This profound experience is not only emergent in NDEs – but is reliably precipitated via serotonergic psychedelics. The neural correlates of the psychedelic ME will be clearly delineated, with the implication that these may also underlie the ME of the NDE. Additionally, while ‘bliss’ is usually another ME dimension, its absence is also reported, such as in challenging NDEs and psychedelic experiences. As such, a case of a spiritual emergency after psilocybin will be shared – where the predictive processing theory of the brain informed its remission. However, despite recourse to neural mechanisms here, unexplained anomalous phenomena (e.g. psi) are very common in both NDE and psychedelic experiences. Indeed, a hypothesis of psi will be offered entailing the entropic brain theory, which gestures toward post-materialism, but also calls for a reconciliation with neuroscience; a marriage of ‘Heaven and Hell’.

The presentation will show how the NDE, while being tailored to the individual, provides universal lessons that can help in daily life. People are divided by race, nationality, religion, etc. because we have forgotten that we are literally all One. Many times fundamentalists will attack NDE experiencers because their experience falls outside the bounds of that particular religion or conflicts with Atheistic Materialism.

They will discuss medical staff’s responses to patient reports of NDEs and STEs; including witnessing how patients were treated after sharing their events with fellow healthcare workers. Whenever the nurse experiencers actively listened and validated patient’s experiences, it helped them process, integrate and normalize their life-altering events. Such supportive measures help foster increased patient care and comfort. The History and Impact of Near-Death Experiences on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1784 to the Present

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (“Mormon” Church) was founded in 1830 by 24 year old Joseph Smith, based on a vision which had many NDE elements. Later he visited by an angel who, after delivering a message, departed through a tunnel into heaven. Once a mob beat him, and left him for dead. During assault Smith watched the rest of the assault from above, when his spirit left his body. From 1784 to the present thousands of Latter-day Saints have had extensive NDEs, including Mormon leader, Jedediah Grant. In 1920 a Mormon leader from Idaho, Heber Hale, shared his NDE in the Church’s conference. Details of these and other NDEs in Mormon Faith, in Judaism, early Christianity and other faiths will be described. Presenter will conclude with the suggestion tradition religions should not be skeptical of NDEs. Neither should those who accept NDEs be skeptical of tradition religion. Both share common roots.

Dr. Mary Neal’s life was transformed when she drowned on a South American river while kayaking with friends. During her thirty minutes underwater, she was held by Christ, experienced a surprising life review, went to heaven, and was then returned to her body. She was told about some future events, including the coming death of her oldest son and has experienced many tangible miracles. She believes an unshakable trust in God’s promises creates joy that transcends one’s circumstances, lights the world, and allows each one of us to become God’s messengers of love.

Without discussing the rightness or wrongness of Mormonism, this presentation explains why many Mormons comfortably embrace near-death experiences. While much of the western Judeo-Christian world looks askance at NDEs and related phenomena, most Mormons, or members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as they prefer to be called, view glimpses of eternity and end-of-life phenomena as normal, scriptural, and edifying. Indeed, though Mormons use a different nomenclature than the NDE community, they accept the eternal and divine nature of the human soul, communications with Deity, and after-death communications as a basis for belief at a personal level and as the source of Mormon doctrine at an institutional level. While such experiences are considered sacred, sharing them is acceptable and sometimes encouraged. When spiritual and faith traditions understand one another’s lexicon, they may realize they are much nearer a timeless oneness than they ever imagined.

For 40 years, Scott Drummond remained silent about his life-changing NDE that took place during a surgical procedure at age 28. Prior to his NDE, Scott was primarily focused on being successful in business rather than spending time with his wife and family. But during his life review everything changed that equation! Scott was shown how his misplaced personal ambitions were self-centered and negatively impacting him and his family. Though profoundly changed after his experience, several years later, Scott says he received an unmistakable wake-up call when he and his friend were tragically struck by lightning on a golf course. The traumatic event reminded him of the gifts, goals, and life purpose revealed to him in Heaven; to always be kind, and to always be of service to others. No longer fearing death and to be of service to others, Scott decided to finally share his story with the general public to help mitigate their fear of death and dying during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 1984 (at age 7) Kristle Westover nearly drowned in a community swimming pool. Her dramatic resuscitation made national headlines saying “you’ll see, Dr. Morse. Heaven is fun”. Her experience inspired Dr. Morse to do the first prospective study of near-death experiences. His studies, published in the medical and scientific literature, presented scientific evidence that NDEs are real. Kristle, as an adult, embodies what it is like to live a life of divine guidance. She is a social worker directing a mental health agency in Afton, Wyoming. Her life is an example of living the lessons of the NDE. Dr. Morse will present his research on near death experiences in children and their drawings of heaven. He will document that science validates the NDE and in turn the lessons inherent in them. It is both a spiritual and scientific statement to say that life is about learning lessons of love.

There has been so much said about the experiences of those who have crossed over into the spiritual realm. Individuals who have left their sick or broken bodies & slipped into a realm of total peace & tranquility. A place where fear & judgment are absent. Family members, guides, or other trusted spiritual figures greet them as friends & equals. In this place of comfort, the experiencer realizes they will never be the same again. Death is transient, the body is impermanent, they are indeed an eternal spirit, & they are truly home again. Each of us who has made this journey and returned to our physical bodies & our earthly abode brings these memories back with us. What then? What have we done with this incredible gift of spiritual knowledge? How has it changed our lives? Have we used this priceless realization to amend our actions, offer our suffering brothers & sisters the same kindness, support, love, & unqualified acceptance that was freely given to us in the world of spirit?

In the past 15 years of my clinical practice, I’ve had 81 patients share near-death experiences, 700 with spiritually transformative events while simultaneously pursuing an eclectic physician practice that includes spirituality, holistic, nutritional, botanical, functional and genetic components. With this experience, I’ve increasingly been able to connect the dots. When I first meet someone, I can usually tell whether they have had a spiritually transformative event or spiritual near-death experience. These individual present with characteristic symptoms and health issues. The COMT Val 158 gene mutation is powerfully connected. It is responsible for metabolism of neurotransmitters, toxins and estrogens; these turn out to create unique opportunities and challenges for these individuals

The prominent Caltech theoretical physicist Sean Carroll declares that the laws of physics that underlie everyday life are now completely known, and that they rule out the existence of spirits or non-embodied minds. His is a fundamental and serious challenge to a literal understanding of out-of-body experiences. This presentation will examine his assertion, to see whether his confidence is justified
